The history of the Minneapolis textile industry in the late nineteenth century is often overshadowed by its flour and lumber giants. However, by the early 1900s, specialized knitting companies were already leading the way in undergarment manufacturing. This legacy of focusing on technological and imaginative innovation became the blueprint for modern textile development.
In 2016, Flockskahl INC began its journey by drawing inspiration from these historical methods of functional knitting. Just as early innovators sought to improve the comfort of woolen garments, we focused on refining the "plating" technique—layering different fibers to eliminate discomfort while maintaining performance. Our early developments in 2016 centered on creating a high-performance stretch and recovery fabric that could withstand heavy use without sacrificing a clean, sophisticated aesthetic.
Flockskahl INC continues to evolve this focus on textile innovation. By investing heavily in the development of our MDC (Merino Dual Cloth) series, we have established a new standard for versatile apparel. Our approach ensures that the stability and longevity of each piece remain competitive in a global market, honoring the spirit of quality-driven manufacturing that first defined the industry over a century ago.
